Message but its not far off I'm sure. There's drivetrain losses, frictional losses at the wheel/roller junction, a small bit of windage, cooling fan losses and accessory losses. These things add up and I dont think 18% is that far off. Resistance is proportional so as the force increases, so does the resistance, but it does so proportional to the load. Saying the 18% rule doesn't apply up top and it does down bottom is humorous, but flawed logic at best. I dont think it is a stretch to say 90HP is lost from 500 through the drivetrain and other parasitic devices. It takes close to 90HP to maintain a 70MPH cruise on level ground in our cars and about 20HP is lost at the wheel-ground junction. One of the DAQ programs I wrote calculates rolling resistance and wind resistance. Its interesting how much power it takes to maintain a 3500# car at 70MPH and since the relationship between wind resistance and speed is exponential, it takes an ever increasing amount of power to make it go just a little faster.

The question posed was a simple poll to see who is making 500FWHP. I said I am close and I backed my claim up to some degree. Let me go back to the dyno with better intercooling and aquamist and I'll be sure to show you impressive numbers. Dont forget also, I still have gutted precats and gutted midpipes. I should be able to make over 500FWHP after all the mods are put on.
